Kazakh woman wins Best Women Director award in London
Director, screenwriter and producer, originally from Kazakhstan, Sharipa Urazbayeva won the Best Women Director award at the 22nd Rainbow Film Festival in London, Kazpravda.kz reports.
"Unexpected news for me. It turns out that I won the Best Women Director award at the London Film Festival," Sharipa Urazbayeva wrote in Instagram.
The plot of the film "Maryam" tells the story of Meruert Sabbusinova (Maryam), whose husband went mysteriously missing and she has to single-handedly raise four children and cope with all the hardships of life in a Kazakh village.
