The short film Mergen directed by debutant Raiymbek Alzhanov will take part in the international film festival Fantasia, which will be held from 5 to 25 August in Montreal (Canada), Kazpravda.kz refers to the press service of the Sh. Aimanov Kazakhfilm studio informing.
The film was produced by Sh. Aimanov Kazakhfilm JSC with the support of the State Center for Support of National Cinema by the order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“We are very pleased that the world premiere of our film will take place at the Fantasia festival,” said the film director Raiymbek Alzhanov.
The action of the film Mergen takes place in the 17th century, when a war was going on in the vastness of the Great Steppe and tells the story of a boy named Mergen, who, despite his young age, took up arms to protect his family, abandoned by his native village.
It is worth noting that along with the Kazakh film, another five movies from the UK, Mexico, Australia, USA, China and South Korea will take part in the Radical Spirit short film competition.
