Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session ongoing in Sochi

In Sochi, first in this year session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council began, attended by the presidents of: Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russia - Vladimir Putin, Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, Kyrgyzstan - Sooronbai Jeenbekov, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and chairman of the EEC board Tigran Sarkisyan, reports.

"Russia, which chairs the EAEU in 2018, proposed an extensive program of joint work, among which I emphasize intensification of efforts to create common markets for goods and services, further development of trade and investment ties, bolstering of production and technological cooperation. We deem expedient to continue convergence of currency-financial and monetary-credit policies of our countries, to build more efficient transport and logistics chains, "said Vladimir Putin, opening the narrow format meeting.

The RF President named promising cooperation areas, such as nuclear and renewable energy, ecology, medicine, space, tourism and sport; more attention should be given to cooperation in the socio-humanitarian area, education, interregional and cross-border links.

In general, there are 15 items on the SEEC session agenda. These are implementation of the main directions of the digital agenda of the member-states until 2025, the main macroeconomic policy guidelines for 2018-2019, results of the two-year membership of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan in the EAEU and other topics.
