President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the Interior Minister Kalmuhanbet Kasimov, the President’s press service informs, who reported on the criminal situation in the country, measures to fight crime, extremism, drug trafficking, illicit migration and strengthen public safety, protect the citizens’ rights, improve public order and prevent crime.

According to the minister crimes are duly recorded, each application on the committed crime is closely looked into; the police provide public access to justice, protecting the citizens’ legitimate rights and interests. In 2011 196,500 crimes were registered. The 64-percent rise in crime rate is predictable, as nearly 80,000 of crimes had been withdrawn from "the shadow". Basically the criminal situation in the country remains stable, - said K. Kasimov.

The Interior Minister briefed on the implementation of the tasks in the President’s State-of-the-Nation Address in registration of motor vehicles, issuing driving licenses through the Citizen Service Centers, creation of Eurazpol, attestation and training of the Interior personnel.

The President gave a number of specific assignments in the end.
