Yesterday the capital’s administration was hosting an enlarged conference with public figure, scientists and executive bodies’ members discussing the draft State program 2011-2020 for development of languages, offered by the culture ministry.

At XV session of Kazakhstan people’s Assembly (KPA) the President called the state language the main factor of national unity – “Our society, intellectuals must be above petty, vicious and populist verbosities about the state’s neglect of Kazakh language development. In fact the state shoulders a full responsibility in it”.

Bauyrjan Omarov, the chairman of the Committee for languages with the culture ministry outlined the main directions of the drafted program, noting progress in the recent years in the state language development and sharing on the no easy tasks.

Then followed reactions of a writer and MP Aldan Smaiyl, the rector of Kazakh agrotechnical university named after S.Seifullin Aitbai Bulashev, professor of L.Gumilev ENU Dihan Kamzebekuly and others, specifying problem spots to be addressed: complexities in translations and unification of professional and scientific terms, shortage of school and university textbooks and others.

All the objections and proponed ideas will be factored in when making the final version of the cultural program.
